On assignment

Be the temp they ask for again.

Be early enough to be on time

Your start time is the time you should be ready to work, not the time you're walking through the front door.

Plan the journey. Check delays. Give yourself breathing room.

Read the room

Every building has its own personality. Some receptions are formal. Some are relaxed. Some are incredibly busy.

Watch, listen and adapt.

Your phone can wait

Personal phones shouldn't be out while you're covering Reception or Front of House unless there is a genuine need.

You're there to be present.

Ask rather than guess

New building? New system? Unsure about something? Ask.

Nobody expects you to magically know how every building operates.

Leave it as you found it

Return passes, keys, equipment and anything else you've been given.

Confidential means confidential

You'll sometimes see or hear things at reception that aren't your business.

Keep them that way.

Why does this matter?

Because clients remember good people.

When somebody is reliable, capable and a pleasure to have in the building, clients often ask for them again.

That makes it much easier for us to keep offering that person work.

Equally, repeated lateness, unexplained absence or poor standards can mean a client doesn’t request somebody again.

We want you first on the list.
